The Spy Chapter 6 – Part IV When their car stopped to fuel the car, the attendant looked them wary. Firstly, it was each day harder to see people stopping there to fuel, people was not travelling because of the war. Secondly, because a woman was driving the car, while the man was sitting in the back seat. Thirdly, because who was on the command was the man, and he just talked with the woman: “How much fuel I buy?” Simone asked. “Complete the tank, so we can delay our next stop. And ask him where we can sleep.” Simone looked the attendant and tried to sound pleasant, even knowing the situation not allowing her doing it at all: “I would like you to complete the tank, please. And could you say us a good place to sleep? We are tired of travelling.” “There is a place two or three kilometers from here, but I have no idea if they are open. You know, lady, with the war, many places are closed.” The attendant answered, showing in his voice that he thought that something was wrong. “We will go there, thank you.” “Everything is right, lady?” “We are just tired…” “Really?” Simone smiled and said nothing. The attendant walked away, concluding that even if something was wrong in that situation, he had no reason to be worried – everything was strange those days. At least, he had tried to help. “Here, take this money to pay the bill.” Alex said, giving Simone some money: “And do not talk too much.” “I’m pretending everything is right. But it’s kind of hard with you sitting in the back seat and giving me orders.” “I don’t want your opinion. Pay it and let’s go.” That was exactly what they did.
